One unique thing about LdM is that it is an international institute, so there are very few 4-year students in the program- most are here only for a semester, some here for a year. Because of this, student life is much different than at UH. One notable difference is that you won't meet Italian locals in your classes. The majority of students will be from the US, and there are also a lot of students from Mexico, and then some from other european countries, mainly Scandanavia.
This also means that there aren't any student-run organizations like there is at UH. Instead, we pay a student activity fee as part of our tuition, which allows us to participate in a variety of organized activities with one of the activity advisors (they are super nice and make you feel comfortable!!). They are also fantastic. Some of the highlights for me was cooking activities, where you learn to cook, usually, a pasta, and a dessert. The best part: you get to eat it too! YUM!!!

They offered guided museum tours, which were super informative, walks to learn about the history of Florentine architecture and art, visits to artisanal shops that carry the true identity of Florence, rather than the touristic destinations famous on tiktok, which includes visits to try coffee, cake, hot chocolate, pastries, sandwiches, appertivos, you name it!! It is not only a great way to get a more authentic experience of Florence, it also allows you to meet friends outside of UH and your classes, and get free food or access to museums, which is always helpful as a student. I would highly recommend signing up for as many as you can!
